The history of this collection is typical for Russia: in the mid-1990s having earned a lot of money, Igor Vozyakov started purchasing paintings by the famous masters: Aivazovsky, Shishkin, and other figures of the Russian art of the 19th -20th centuries. Altogether he has collected 120 canvasses.

The examination carried out recently showed that 9 of 15 works remaining in his collection now are high-quality fakes. The owner of the collection, following the example of some western collections, has decided to expose them in a museum.
