Arkhangelsk Restores its Architectural Pearls

At all times ancient shopping arcades of Arkhangelsk have been peculiar landmarks of this old North Russian city.
They are justly considered as "architectural pearls of Northern Russia. Today, however, only the eighth part has remained from the greatness of these buildings of the 17th-18th centuries. Experts have to restore the destroyed monuments little by little. Recently they have restored the unique Russian Corps.
The first restoration works with the use of the 17th century drafts were started in the 1990s. However, lack of financing was a drag on the process. In 2002 thanks to the target program of the federal level the city received considerable assets for proceeding with the restoration works and a new projects based on drafts of 1797 was developed.
