Comics Festival to be Held in Moscow

11th International Festival of graphic stories Kommissiya-2012 will open in Moscow on April 27.

The traditional Manga Day and workshops by different comic artists will be held in the framework of the festival; a reading room and a market of comic strips will be opened.

The first festival Kommissya was conducted in 2001 as a congress of artists and fans of graphic stories. According to the organizers, it was designed as an action in support of the domestic artists working in this genre, and was expected to take place only once. However, comics have been gaining popularity in this country, and so the festival has been expanding every year, and last year it celebrated its decade on a big scale. The contemporary art center Winzavod since its opening in 2008 has become a co-organizer and the main venue of the festival.

The festival runs till May 7.
