New tourist route “Key of Russia” will appear in the Smolensk Region. It will run along the Smolensk fortress wall that was built 400 years ago. Its eastern part has long been in disrepair and the authorities are going to restore it by the end of the year.
The government of the Smolensk Region has allocated more than 51 million rubles for the creation of a new tour. The money will be spent for such needs as lighting system, parking lots for tourist buses, network of pedestrian paths, restrooms and a bridge over the moat.
The second stage of the reconstruction process will be connected with the creation of various museums in the towers of the fortress wall. In addition, the ski resort will appear nearby.
