By December this year restoration of the Izborsky Fortress should have been completed, authorities of the Pskov Region report.

      Nearly 300 million rubles have been allocated from the federal budget for the restoration works. The works are carried out in the framework of preparations for celebration of the 1150th anniversary of Izborsk.

      Celebrations of this significant date will take place in the Pskov Region from September 8 to September 10 this year. About 4,7 billion rubles will be spent on celebrations of the anniversary. Izborsk is considered to be one of the most ancient cities of Russia, but today it is the settlement Old Izborsk of the Pechora District of the Pskov Region. The state historical-architectural and natural-landscape memorial estate "Izborsk" is located in its territory.

      The Izborsky Fortress was constructed at the beginning of the 14th century. Unique fragments of walls, towers and defensive constructions have come down to us.
