On Tuesday, Russia team scored a 2-0 win over Germany in the hockey world championships in Stockholm, the third-straight victory of the Russians within the tournament.
The Germans created more chances in the opener, but Russian attempts were more resultant, which ended with Nikolay Zherdev's successful redirection the puck into the opponents' net after Evgeny Medvedev’s slapshot, 1-0.
The second period was rather nervy, and went in stubborn struggle. Russian could score the second goal only in the middle of the third 20 minutes, realizing a power play. Russian forward Aleksey Tereschenko doubled the team's lead with an accurate goal at the 51st minute, 2-0.
This victory allowed Russian team to catch up with Sweden on top of Group B: the both team managed to win all three matches, but still never met within that tournament. Previously Russia beat Latvia (5:2) and Norway (4:2). The top four of the eight teams in the group go through to the quarterfinals.
The next game of Russian hockey team will be on Thursday, May 10, against Denmark, before facing Sweden, the Czech Republic and Italy.
