The Svaiour's Transfiguration Cathedral (Saviour Zlatoverkhy) throughout several centuries was the symbol of Tver, the center of spiritual life of the Tver land. It was founded in 1285 by the blessed prince Mikhail of Tver. The cathedral became the first white-stone church built in Russia, and one of the largest ones.
According to the decision of the Soviet authorities, the cathedral was blown up on April 4, 1935.
