A display of blood paintings by a young artist has been cancelled in Kamensk-Uralsky town of the Sverdlovsk Region.
Epidemiologists have considered the bloody pictures by the 25-year-old artist Nikolay Ustyantsev unhygienic.
The young artist has been a follower of the Gothic subculture for many years. Graphic art works by Nikolay Ustyantsev have taken part in town exhibitions throughout five years. Last autumn his personal exhibition was held in Kamensk-Uralsky.
When the artist made pencil drawings, critics of Kamensk-Uralsky highly estimated his works. However, now the critics refuse to support the new trend in his creativity. Unexpectedly there came a protest from the Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights.
It is the artist's neighbor, a nurse by profession, who helps him to take the paint from his vein. According to her, regular partial renewal of blood is useful for the body.
