This year the capital of Russia, Moscow, has been placed fourth among the most expensive cities for expatriates, according to the Cost of Living worldwide rankings by Mercer Human Resource Consulting, reports Agence France-Press. Last year Moscow was also in the fourth position.
In 2012 Tokyo, the capital of Japan, has become the world’s most expensive city for expatriates. Karachi, the capital of Pakistan, is the cheapest, says Mercer Human Resource Consulting.
The capital of Angola, Luanda, is holding the second place, the third is another Japan city, Osaka. The fifth most expansive city for expatriates is Swiss Geneva.
Mercer’s Cost of Living rankings are releases annually and measure the comparative cost of living for expatriates in 214 major cities. The agency compares the cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household gods and entertainment.
