June 17 will see the opening of the 55th season of summer free-for-all concerts in M. Rostropovich Nizhni Novgorod Philharmonics.
The season will open with a concert of the Academic Symphonic Orchestra conducted by its art director and chief conductor, the People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Skulsky. The program includes compositions by Mozart, Bach and Tchaikovsky.
The public concert will take place weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Such free-for-all philharmonic seasons have been held annually since 1958. Nizhni Novgorod is justly proud of this tradition, which is unique for Russia.
