Until September 30, the early and little known works of Marc Chagall will be displayed at the Tretyakov Gallery, as part of the Russian-French Year 2012-2013.
A much-awaited exhibition has been scheduled for the period of celebrations of Russian and French heritage. Chagall is noted for his internationalism, and the organisers plan to show his less-known works, from the early paintings he drew in Vitebsk to the late Parisian pieces, including over a hundred of etchings, particularly the illustrations to Bible and to Lafontin's fables.
The exhibition is expected to attract a plenty of visitors. The last time Chagall's work went on display in 2005, it attracted nearly 130 thousand of visitors.
