A unique exhibition has been opened in the Peter and Paul Fortress in front of the Grand Prince Sepulcher.
It presents over 40 sculptures by the great artist Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). It should be noted, however, that none of the exhibited in Petersburg sculptures has been touched by the master’s hand – they were cast from original molds already after the death of Auguste Rodin. However, the organizers consider the so-called “second molds” no less important for understanding the artist’s creativity than the originals.
All the presented sculptures are certified as original works by Auguste Rodin. One of them will be handed over to the collection of the State Hermitage Museum upon the end of the exhibition, which runs till August 14.
