New Map of Arctic Ocean to be Published in St. Petersburg
The Arctic Ocean

In 2013, a new panoramic map of the Arctic Ocean will be published with the help of military hydrographers from St. Petersburg. This was announced by Andrey Zenkov, the head of the expedition “Shelf-2011”, who is also working in the State Research Institute of Navigation and Hydrography.

The map will be based on expeditions in 2011 and 2010, when scientists were studying high-latitude boundaries of the continental shelf in the Arctic. Mr. Zenkov said that such a map was published in 2000 by the Department of Navigation and Oceanography, and it will be upgraded next year. The map will show the entire Arctic Ocean.

The information obtained during the expeditions of recent years will be used for the proofreading of other cards of this region.
