Novatek is looking for assets in Africa and Asian-Pacific

The Russia's largest independent gas producer Novatek has shown its interest in acquiring assets in Africa and Asian-Pacific area countries, reports RIA News.

According to Leonid Mikhelson, the Head of Novatek, the company is interested in the projects, which do not require large investments in the beginning. The work in these projects can be on the sage of geological exploration of deposits. Currently the company is ‘studying the market, the forthcoming opportunities and possible tenders’.

Novatek is the second largest gas producer in Russia. It was founded in 1994. The main shareholders are Leonid Mikhelson and Gennadiy Timchenko. Their joint share makes about 48%. French company Total owns 15 % of shares and Russian gas producer Gazprom owns 10%.
