Lenin Monument Put up for Sale in Chuvashia

A monument to Vladimir Lenin in Cheboksary (Chuvashia) has been assessed at 207 thousand rubles.

The owner of the monument to the leader of the proletariat by the gatehouse of Volga Textile Company is a bankrupt who send to the hammer everything that can be sold.

But selling the Lenin monument is already way too much according to Chuvash communists that have appealed to the republican and city authorities for "taking measures to preserve the monument as an object of cultural and historical heritage".

It is hard to say if there will be lots of buyers, if any. The indignant communists don't plan to redeem it themselves. But if the auction doesn't take place, according to the decision of creditors, the monument will be transferred to the city. The city administration is ready to carry it as an asset.
