Exhibition about Terrestrial Life of Virgin Mary Opens in Moscow

An exhibition illustrating the terrestrial life of the Blessed Virgin has been opened in the Moscow State Museum of History of Religion.

The exhibition includes about 150 works - Russian icons, paintings, prints and sculptures by Russian and West European artists of the 16th-20th centuries, as well as arts and crafts (church utensils and fabrics). Many of the exhibits have been restored specially for the exhibition and are displayed for the first time.

Virgin Mary is one of the most revered figures in Christianity, both eastern and western. She is also mentioned in the Koran as Mariam, who has given birth to the God's prophet and messenger Isa.

The exhibition runs till November 19.
