Second Louvre to Appear in Veliky Novgorod

A glass pyramid, similar to the one that is set above the entrance to the Louvre in Paris, will appear on the territory of the Novgorod Kremlin.

The pyramid will be located between two ancient monuments - the Faceted Chamber and the Cathedral of St. Sophia. It will protect the the oldest Russian monument of the civil architecture, discovered by archaeologists in the 2008 - “stone chamber”, dated to 1350. The researches have found the walls (height of approximately 2.5 meters) with four arches and a basement. The building is now covered with a special construction and is available only to scientists.
