Pilorama, a traditional forum dedicated to problems of cultural development in the conditions of freedom restriction, will take place in the territory of Perm-36, the former GULAG area, between 27 and 29 of July.
This annual international event promises to be very special this year, as the Russian society has seen a growth of civic movement and initiatives since December 2011. Several reports and presentations will be delivered to the guests that study the mechanisms and tendencies in Russian public protests, as well as the prospects of co-existence of different social and political forces within the country.
The forum is accompanied by a festival where music and theatrical collectives stage "themed" performances, dedicated to the problems of freedom, inequality, cultural, and various other aspects of social and political life in Russia. It is known that one of the performances this year is dedicated to the war in Chechnya. Other events include art exhibitions, poetry readings, and film screenings.
