Hotels to be Built in the Arctic

The director of the National Park "Russian Arctic" Roman Ershov has recently announced that Russia is going to open four visitor centers for tourists on the territory of Franz Josef Land and Novaya Zemlya. Tourists will be able to stay for several days at these hotels during the trip to the Arctic.

According to Mr. Yershov, three hotels will be located on the Franz Josef Land archipelago and one hotel – on the territory of Novaya Zemlya. The special attention will be given to the infrastructure and to the creation of new environmental routes for tourist groups.

Currently, there are no such objects in the Arctic. All the tourists come to these areas by air transport or by ship and they have only a few hours to explore the local sights. The new project on the construction of visitor centers aims to make the trip easier and to help travellers feel comfortable in extreme conditions.

The approximate costs of an Arctic tour has been already announced – 300 – 750 thousand rubles. It is supposed that such trips will be most popular among foreign tourists.
