Four and a half years passed since the idea of creating till the opening of the Museum Studio of David Borovskii (1934-2006).
It is the first permanent exhibition in Russia that is dedicated to creativity of a theatrical artist.
David Borovskii worked in this spacious workshop on the 4th floor for two years. This is where he and director Lev Dodin thought out the staging of King Lear. The centre of the exposition now is the model of future sceneries made of cardboard. There are also numerous notes, sketches, posters, and personal belongings that the artist never parted with - a peculiar mosaic of David Borovskii’s life. The exhibition space of the museum is not large so far, but it is planned to be expanded in a year and the exposition is expected to be supplemented every half a year. Besides, the colleagues and friends of Borovskii dream of organizing a club of scenery designers here, where they would get together, exchange thoughts, and recollect the outstanding theatrical artist.
The museum studio is open House 3 in Bolshoy Afanasyevsky Lane near the Kropotkinsky Metro Station.
