The State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg has opened the exhibition Tilos. The Journey Beyond Life. Rituals and funerary traditions in Bahrain.1st century B.C. - 3rd century A.D.
      
      The exhibition presents archeological finds unfolding the history of ancient Tilos – the civilization which existed in the territory of modern Bahrain.
      
      The ancient monuments making the collection of the Bahrain National Museum after excavations of the second half of the 20th century are exhibited outside of the kingdom for the first time.
      
      Ceramic censers, kitchen utensils, gold ornaments – altogether over 250 unique archeological finds connected with funeral ceremonies. The oldest of them are more than two thousand years old.
      
      These are the only artifacts that can tell something about the mysterious ancient civilization of Tilos. No other sources for its studying have been found so far. The exhibition runs till September 30.
