The famous film Alexander Nevsky (1938) by the ullustrious Soviet film director Sergei Eisenstein will be coloured.
Experts are already working on the colourization of the historical black-and-white film. They are colouring the original, unedited version of the film made in 1936.
The process and the very concept of colourization of old films is a controversial issue in the professional milieu: lots of film-makers and film critics express their skepticism towards it.
Earlier the company Formula of Colour colourized some masterpieces of Soviet cinema, such as The Foundling (1939), Cinderella (1947), Only Old Men Are Going to Battle (1973), Jolly Fellows (1934), Volga-Volga (1938), Officers (1971) and a few others.
