Romanov Imperial House is opposed to the idea of Russian Monarchists to create their own political party seeking the revival of the Russian Empire.
On Wednesday, the Russian Ministry of Justice officially registered the Monarchist party, in spite of the fact that the party's ideology calls for change of Russia's current state system and Constitution.
"We are standing for the revival of the monarchy as the most natural state system for Russia. Our country was a Great Empire, and we are going to bring that greatness back. We will support the royal Romanov family as our future rulers", the head of the party, former MP, Anton Bakov, has said.
However, Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna Romanov believes “a monarch must unite people” while the establishment of such a party only leads to disintegration. So the Romanovs are not going to support the new party.
Before the Monarchist party's foundation, 46-year-old millionaire Bakov was widely known for having founded a virtual state – the Russian Empire – located on a coral atoll called Suvorov near the Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean. Every person could become a national of the state, applying for a passport via e-mail for the price of just 1000 roubles (about $31).
