Russian Olympic Basketball Team's leader, Andrei Kirilenko, has decided to return to the NBA for the next season, he told the press on Tuesday. He has added he already discussed it with CSKA president Andrei Vatutin.
Kirilenko returned from Utah Jazz to his native Russia with CSKA Moscow during last season’s lockout and stayed until the end of the season.
"I’m 31 now but I can still play and still want to play on a higher level," Kirilenko said, "I'm going to continue my career in NBA. Which club in particular, we’ll know in a day or two."
Previously, Kirilenko named two priority clubs for him - Utah Jazz, where he had spent 10 seasons, becoming an NBA All-Star in 2004, and the Brooklyn Nets, owned by Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov.
Andrei Kirilenko is one of the most successful players onà Russia's basketball history, He became the youngest player in Russian Super League history when he debuted for Spartak St. Petersburg in 1997 aged 16, before moving to CSKA in 1998. His contract with CSKA club ends in October 2014.
