Monument to Steve Jobs to Appear in Petersburg
Steve Jobs

A monument to the founder of the Apple company may appear in St. Petersburg soon.

A competition for the best concept of the Steve Jobs memorial has been announced in St. Petersburg. As organizers of the project say it can be any idea: from a classical monument, a stele or a memorial plate to an electronic installation.

“Petersburg is justly considered the Russian center of information technologies. There are most well-known universities here, and the school of programming is recognized the leading one in Russia; students of Petersburg higher educational institutions regularly win international competitions on programming. The only Russian competitor of Facebook –VKontakte – has also been created and based in Petersburg. For this reason we believe that Petersburg can be called not only the Northern capital, but also the IT capital of Russia” - representatives of the company Fund Progress IT explained.

The detail of the competition can be found on the project’s website Applications are accepted till August 6, and winners will be announced on August 10, 2012.
