A very unusual event - sandboarding - will take place on August 4-5, in Kotelniki district, Moscow region. All comers are welcomed to participate in the competition and to receive a title of the best sand skier.
The event is organized by Ski.ru website and Moscow Federation of alpine skis and snowboarding. The unusual championship has a long-term history, but it was not held for the last four years. Now the organizers are planning to revive interest for the new way of skiing, which has no analogs in Russia.
The technical skills of the new sport discipline, which is called "sandboarding", resemble skiing on a wet snow. All comers over 18 years can take part in the competition, advance registration is required. Skis, boards and another equipment is desirable, helmet is necessary. The organizers will also be happy to receive old skis, boards of ski boots, as well as the help of volunteers. Winners will be awarded with prizes.
A "Kotelniki" urban district is located south-east from Moscow and linked with the city by a regular transportation service (subway stations "Kuzminki", "Ryazansky prospekt and others).
