One of the streets in Saint Petersburg may be named after the famous singer Eduard Khil.

      St. Petersburg governor Georgy Poltavchenko has supported the initiative of the municipal Legislative Assembly. “An entire epoch in the history of musical art of this country is associated with his name.Edward Khil by right became a symbol of St. Petersburg. Songs of the Great Patriotic War took a major place in his creativity. They are especially important for our city, which withstood the Leningrad blockade”, - the deputies pointed out.

      In 2010 Eduard Khil suddenly found himself an Internet celebrity: the music video with his vocalese got 14 million viewings on YouTube. Eduard Khil, aged 77, died after a serious illness on 4 June 2012.
