The legendary British musician Peter Gabriel has written a supportive letter to the three arrested members of the Pussy Riot band.
As the Russian producer Alexander Cheparukhin reports on his Facebook page, Peter Gabriel wrote the letter on the last day of the WOMAD festival held for the 30th time this year.
“Nadya, Katya, Masha. You have the right to make your own prayers – from the heart. I hope that you will be released very, very soon. We are all watching”- the musician wrote.
Peter Gabriel already spoke up in support of Pussy Riot and the opposition that had held mass meetings before and after the presidential election this year in Russia.
On Monday the Hamovnichesky Court of Moscow started hearing on the merits, and refused to return the case to prosecutor's office. During the hearing Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina and Yekaterina Samutsevich refused to admit guilt of hooliganism in Christ the Saviour Cathedral, but apologized to believers whom they did not want to offend with their performance.
Earlier in July world stars Sting, Faith No More, Franz Ferdinand and Red Hot Chili Peppers supported the arrested girls from the Pussy Riot band.
