The fourth day of the Olympic Games in London has become a hard battle for medals with several winners from Russia.
The most dramatic battle took place between Russian and American gymnasts for the first place. Russia had the youngest Olympic team in the history, which was made up of Victoria Komova, Aliya Mustafina, Maria Paseka, Anastasia Grishina and Kseniya Afanasieva – the only one with Olympic experience. The girls tried their best but had some considerable mistakes in their perfomances. The Americans' unmistakable performance allowed them to win with a score of 183.596, five points ahead of Russia and seven clear of third-placed Romania.
Russian sporstmen don't get tired with showing their superiority in judo. On Tuesday, Russian judoka Ivan Nifontov took Olympic bronze in the men's 81kg category, beating Japan's Takahiro Nakai by Ippon in the bronze medal match.
It's a third medal in judo for Russia after Arsen Galstyan won the 60kg category Saturday and Mansur Isaev took gold in the 73kg.
Russian weightlifter Svetlana Tsarukanova won a silver medal, managing to lift 125kg and handing the Kazakhstan Maiya Maneza victory by eight kilos. Maneza scored 110kg in the snatch, two short of Svetlana, but lifted 135 in the clean and jerk to claim gold.
