Multimedia Art Museum has opened a large-scale retrospective exhibition of Brassai - the legendary 20th century photographer, whose works reveal the innermost secrets of Paris.
The exhibition presents not only world-famous photos by Brassai, but also his graphic works and small sculptures, including Picasso's Head (1948). Brassai was acquainted with the great artists Salvador Dalí, Man Ray, Henry Miller, and Pablo Picasso, who had a great impact on the photographer’s creative development.
He proved to be a talented portraitist, the author of canonic portraits of many celebrities, among them Picasso, Dalí, Matisse, Giacometti, Michaux, Jean Genet, and others. Brassai had the gift of conveying the psychological condition of the model with amazing precision.
Brassai created a photochronicle of Picasso’s creative career, and later wrote the book Conversations avec Picasso with their talks on art and life recorded for over thirty years of their acquaintance.
The exhibition runs till October 14.
