Yakutia's first Diamond Week welcomes the visitors from 27 to 31 of August. The local government hopes this becomes an annual event that will help to foster the event tourism in the region.
The Diamond Week starts in the town of Mirny where the tourists will visit the diamond shaft, the centre of diamond sorting, and the museum of kimberlites. On 29 August, everyone moves to the city of Yakutsk. The visitors will see the diamond cutters at work and attend various cultural events. Among planned activities are a visit to the tourist complex, The Realm of the Permafrost, the manor house in ethnic style, Ytyk-Khaia, and the eco-ethnographic complex, Chochur-Muran.
Finally, August 30 will see the auction of certified Yakut diamonds and the presentation of exclusive jewellery collections.
