A summer library with free books has started its work at the Central Amusement Park of St. Petersburg, on the Yelagin island. Bookcases and chairs are placed under a big white baldachin near the Neva river's landing pier and children's playground, the Village website reports.
The books can be borrowed without a reader's card or any other document and be read under the baldachin or even taken home.
Classical and modern literature, historical books, fairy-tales, sci-fi, detective stories and periodicals were granted by the Central Library network of the Petrogradsky region. All the books are not from library holdings but presented by common readers. The summer library calls people to bring their books to the park in order to replenish the book stock.
The library will be opened from Wednesday to Sunday, 13:00-19:00, for all August.
Similar library started its work a year ago on the territory of the New Holland island, in the city's centre.
