Joint Monument to Chaliapin and Gorky to Appear in the Nizhny Novgorod Region

A monument to Maxim Gorky and Feodor Chaliapin has been unveiled in the past weekend in the Nizhny Novgorod Region on Mokhovye Hills in Borsk District.

On Mokhovye Hills Maxim Gorky and Feodor Chaliapin stayed at their common friend - architect Pavel Malinovsky.

The idea of creating a monument to this duet appeared 5 years ago and the project sculpture was made a few years back. Its author is the Nizhny Novgorod sculptor Alexander Gorshkov.

Yekaterina Peshkov, Maxim Gorky's great-granddaughter says: “I have never seen before a monument of them together. But they were true friends, always together”.
