Archeologists of the Novgorod University managed to find a unique complex of pendant lead seals in Kurortny Pit in Staraya Russa.
As Staraya Russa archaeological expedition reported, in the course of excavations of the lower part of cultural layers they found a set of 10 seals and two rough pieces. According to archeologists, the find is most likely dated to the 14th century.
It is obvious that the seals were removed from documents; archeologists assume that this set belonged to a person engaged in office-work. In the Middle Ages pendant lead seals were used to ratify official documents.
