On Wednesday, police found the bodies of four people after floods in the Tuapse district of the Krasnodar region.
Due to heavy rains the water level in the Nechepsukho River near the Novomikhailovskoye village rose on Tuesday night, flooding several streets. More than 600 houses were badly damaged, and 1,500 people were evacuated. Currently the water level has dropped and the situation has stabilized.
Four bodies were discovered during checking of all the houses, their identities are being clarified.
Electricity in the village has been cut, though traffic on the federal highway has been resumed. The emergency situation in the region is still in force.
Witnesses say, this time the warning system was on time, which helped to prevent the larger number of victims.
This is not the first flood disaster in Southern Russia this year. In July, heavy rains flooded thousands of homes in the city of Gelendzhik, Krymsk, Novorossiysk and several villages in the region. More than 7,000 homes were devastated in and around the town of Krymsk. Floods killed 168 and left thousands homeless. Local residents accused officials of failing to issue a proper warning about the upcoming flood.
