The largest Russian privately owned airlines Transaero has offered Internet and mobile connection on board to its passengers for the first time.
The service was provided during the flight Moscow –Vladivostok-Moscow on 27-28 August. Passengers, whose gadgets were equipped with Wi-Fi, could get access to a broadband Internet for 400 Rubles (10 Euro) an hour or for 800 Rubles (20 Euro) for limitless access.
Currently the satellite equipment to provide Internet access is installed only at two jets, Boeing 777-300 and Boeing 747-400. According to the company’s plans, in 2012 thirty jets will offer the service on their boards, and by the mid of 2013forty five jets will.
