The well-known Shukhov Tower in Moscow is in need of urgent restoration, because it is in a condition close to emergency.
A meeting of experts took place in the Central House of Architect on the birthday of the world famous engineer Vladimir Shukhov.
The earlier allotted amount of 130 million rubles turns insufficient for the restoration and the company in charge of this unique engineering construction has addressed the government of the Russian Federation with a request to increase this amount to 350 million rubles.
The tower was constructed in 1920-1922 according to Vladimir Shukhov’s (1853-1939) project. The innovative construction was made of a bearing steel mesh cover. The tower is 160 meters high.
