The German concern BMW considers production of Mini cars in Russia in case the volume of sales increases several thousand cars, reports NIA News, referring to the BMW representative Ian Robertson.
According to Mr. Robertson, the forecast of sales in Russia for 2012 is 35 thousand cars. This is 35 % more than in 2011.
Referring to the data of Association of European Business the sales of Mini in Russia for the first half of 2012 has made up 1 223 cars, this is 52% more than last year.
BMW produces its cars for the Russian market at the plant Avtotor in Kaliningrad from 1999. Since that time the company has assembled BMW 3d, 5th, 7th series and crossovers X-3, X-5 and X-6. Mini for the Russian market are assembled in the United Kingdom.
