British Home Secretary Teresa May has sent a list of 60 officials barred from entering the country in connection with Sergei Magnitsky case, The Sunday Times reported.
On the so-called "Magnitsky List" are judges and officials of security services and prosecutor's office. Minister for Immigration Damian Green was reported to have sent the details of the blacklist in a letter to a British parliament member. The letter's content was related to the British tabloid and published on Sunday, September 2, 2012.
The Russian ambassador in the UK, Alexander Yakovenko is expected to demand explanation from the British parties involved in this decision. The British Embassy in Moscow has so far declined to comment.
Sergei Magnitsky, the lawyer of Hermitage Capital Group, died in Moscow prison in 2009, while on trial. In 2011, the U.S. Congress Committee compiled a list of 60 Russian officials, alleged to be responsible for Magnitsky's death. They were denied an entry to the U.S. Now it appears that they may also be barred from entering the UK.
