Triumph Arch - an exhibition under such a title has been opened in the Shchusev Museum of Architecture in Moscow.
The exhibition is dedicated to the three key milestones in the history of Triumphal Arch - one of the most recognizable symbols of Moscow. These milestones are its construction in the Tverskaya Zastava in 1829, demolition in 1936 and reconstruction in 1968 in Kutuzov Avenue.
Visitors can see unique photographs of the original arch, taken in the late 19th century, its detailed drawings made by Soviet engineers just before the demolition to make the subsequent recovery possible.
The main pride of the curators of the exhibition is original decorative elements made of black iron, which have been kept in the museum since the 1930s. The existing arch is decorated with their replicas. The exhibition runs till the end of September
