Restoration of the Imperial Travel Palace in Tver has started with the ceremony of symbolic handing of keys to the monument of federal architecture of the 18th century to builders.
Residents of Tver and the entire Tver Region have been waiting for this day for 20 years.
Interiors and décor will be restored in the palace of the imperial Romanovs family in the next three years. These will be founded on remaining sketches, photos and inventories of the pre-war period. The palace garden and landscaped neighborhood will also be restored.
Restoration costs about three billion rubles; most of the amount - 1.8 billion – has been allocated by the World Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The rest of the money will be provided from the budgets of Tver and the Tver Region.
