Exhibition of Self-made Books of the 1930s Opens in St. Petersburg

 The Museum of Petersburg Avant-garde (Matyushin's House) has opened the exhibition Samozveri. Self-made Books. 1929-1935. 

      The exhibition will run till 31 January 2013.

      All the exhibits date back to the period of 1929-1935 - the time when books of such format were especially popular. In the 1920-1930s lots of such books developing design skills in children were printed. 

      Altogether visitors will see more than 30 informative books for children created by avant-garde artists and writers, such as Boris Zhitkov, Vladimir Konashevich, Samuil Marshak, and Evgeny Charushin. These editions belong to collections of the Russian National Library and private collections.
