Prosecutor General: Most Russian Roads Do Not Meet the Requirements
The notorious Russian roads (Source: http://avtoritet.su)

The Prosecutor General has published the report on the state of Russian roads and highways. According to it, more than half of Russian federal infrastructure falls behind the requirements, and the figure is even higher for regional and local roads.

Among the common faults are deficient road surfaces, the lack (or complete absence) of lightening during the dark hours, the lack of designated pedestrian crosses, of clearly marked divisions between the road lines, the absence of road borders, and inaccurate road marking.

Every fifth road accident is caused by the bad quality of roads. In spite of this the road owners show no hurry in repairing them, even after receiving warning letters from the official road inspectors.

During the latest inspection the total numbers of faults amounted to over 40 thousand. 975 criminal cases have been initiated.
