The fact that Russia has not yet had any exhibitions of Joseph Beuys (1921-1986), a landmark figure of the European post-war art shows how slowly our museums respond to the events outside of this country.
The exhibition held in MMSI with the support of Goethe-Institute in Moscow is bringing together the major things from the best German museum collections. So the introduction of the Russian public to the artist will be quite thorough, if not exhaustive.
Along with record of Joseph Beuys’ performances, installations and sculptures, the artist’s mass-production works, art objects, drawings and records of lectures: Joseph Beuys was one of the most popular teachers of the Academy of Arts in Düsseldorf.
The exhibition is open till November 14 in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, Gogol - R, 10.
