International Comics Festival Boomfest Opens in Petersburg

The annual comics festival Boomfest has opened in Petersburg. 

      Boomfest will traditionally hold exhibitions, workshops, a book fair and a competition for the best comic strip. This year the set subject of the competition is The Choice. The winners will be announced on September 30, and the festival itself will last for whole month, till October 14.

      The exhibition program of Boomfest this year opens with Grigory Yushenko’s exposition Russian Devils held in the library of book illustrations as well as a show of Wilhelm Busch, a classic of comic stories, held in the children's foreign book library. On September 21 the gallery at 5, Bakunin Avenue will show "one-shot" comics of members of the association Tsekh. An exhibition of the Argentinian artist Jose Munoz will open in the Mayakovsky Library on September 28. A comic books fair will open in the Small Hall of the Manezh Exhibition Centre on September 29 and 30.
