On Tuesday night, Russian undefeated boxer Alexander Bakhtin scored an assured unanimous points win over Filipino Roli Gasca to take the vacant IBO super bantamweight title.
Russian boxer in 53 kg weight class gained his 30th win in 30 fights with 11 career knockouts. That night Bakhtin, 31, managed to win on points. All three judges voted for him - 118-111, 119-110 and 118-110.
Roli Gasca, 23, goes to 19-6 with five knockouts and no draws.
Bakhtin is now ranked third in the world by the WBC and sixth by the WBA and IBF. The boxer has a long history of playing in Japan, where he was a long-time Japanese national champion. Now Bakhtin is playing in Russia again. The IBO (International Boxing Organization) title is not the first in his career. The title itself is not one of the world's leading boxing titles, but still very prestigious.
