A monument to the poet Konstantin Batyushkov will be unveiled in Zasheksna District of Cherepovets on the Ñity Day of November 4.
The region has only one monument to the great poet set up in 1987 on the bank of Sukhona River on the 200th anniversary since his birthday.
Konstantin Batyushkov was born into a noble family in Vologda in 1787. Before entering the Petersburg.
Boarding school he was brought up in his home in the Hantonovo Estate near Cherepovets. He took part in battles of the Russian army against the Napoleonic invaders and at the same time published a number of poetry books. He spent the last days of his life in Vologda and was buried in Spaso-Prilutsky Monastery.
