Largest Search Engine in Russia Marks Its 15th Anniversary

 Yandex, the largest search engine in Russia, marks its 15 th anniversary. The company, first announced on September 23, 1997 at the exhibition Softool, has grown from a search engine into the largest Russian Internet resource with a wide verity of additional services.  


      

Yandex search engine, Yandex.Maps, Yandex.Disk, Yandex.Music, Yandex.Traffic, Yandex.Weather, Yandex.News have become an essential part of many Internet users’ lives. It guarantees the company the constantly growing traffic. About 150 million searches per day had been registered in April 2012, according to Wikipedia.org.  


      

The company is also successful in making money on its services. The first context advertisement was published on the site in 1998. In 2001 the company launched Yandex.Direct, the system of automatic placement of context advertisement. And already in August 2002 Yandex reached self-repayment.
