A survey undertaken by Google using a special Android app highlighted what has long been known: Russian roads leave a lot to be desired. Russia's average score was 2.8 out of possible 5 points.
22 cities and towns were surveyd over the past 6 months. In this time 103100km of roads was scrutinised, leaving the "mere" 996900km of Russia's vast terrains.
Using their own Android OS, Google offered the participants to provide estimates for the road based on a 5-point scale. The rest of necessary data was received by the smartphone itself, by analysing the car movement on the road.
We reported earlier this month that the Russian Prosecutor General claimed that more than half of Russian roads fell below the standards. Google survey adds more weight to the Prosecutor General's investigation.
