$1,5 million diamond found in Yakutia

$1,5 million diamond found in Yakutia

 A unique diamond, weight 158,2 carats, estimated over $1,5 million, was found by JSC Alrosa, the largest diamond producer in Russia, in Yakutia in September.


The size of the found uncut diamond is 352222 mm. This is a natural crystal of an oval shape and transparent. The central part is clear, without visible defects. In the peripheral zone there are some dark spots, a split and a technical spall.


According to the Center of diamonds classification of JSC Alrosa, the cost of this uncut diamond amounts over $1,5 million at an auction.   


JSC Alrosa accounts for 28% in the global diamond production in terms of value. JSC Alrosa accounts for 97% of Russia’s overall diamond output.
